Monday Morning/Afternoon, Room 220

The door is propped open on what looks like a disaster zone as Zero frantically tries to pack up everything before she leaves tomorrow. She'll be gone all June summer, after all.

She has a strawberry milkshake, and Fish is perched on one of the bedposts, occasionally chirping, "Danke schoen! Are you my mummy! Pretty bird! Pretty bird!" Come visit her. She'll give you a milkshake.

If she can get to the fridge, that is.

((Edit: The door is now closed, and you'd better have a really good reason for interrupting the room's occupants.))

Angela tapped on the frame of Zero's door. "Are you going home already?" she asked.

"Tomorrow, yeah. Classes start Wednesday or something, so I have to haul arse."

"Yeah, we're out of here Thursday ourselves," Angela said. "Which classes are these, music or film? Or neither?"

She sighed. "It'll be weird not to see everyone every day."

"I'm getting my math requirement and English comp out of the way, and then taking a couple of intro to film classes.

"I know, yeah. I'll miss everybody. I'll miss the library."

"I thought you'd be happy not to have it talking to you anymore," Angela said. "But yeah, I'll miss it too." She bedmodded sat on a corner of the bed not covered with Zero's stuff. "When are you back?"

Zero picked up an armful of shirts and chucked them in her duffel bag. "Uh...should be around the first of September? I think?"

"I didn't know it was that long," Angela said, dismayed. "That's almost four months."

She hesitated. "Email should work, right? Because I'll let you know if anything big happens once I'm back here. Or even while I'm not here. And is Fish going with you?"

Parker wandered in and folded herself down against the wall. "I'm sulking about this, you realize that, right?"

"I'll be back second term in the fall! You'll have a wonderful time and bond with the new kids, you'll see!"

"I'll have a wonderful time torturing the new kids, you mean." Parker pouted. "Won't be the same. I wanted to hang out with you this summer. I know you want film school badly, but still. Wah."

"Yes, that's exactly what I mean. But just think, I won't be telling you to be nice while you're torturing the new kids!"

"That's true." Parker grinned suddenly. "You better send me the director's cut of whatever you produce. I'll e-mail you about any new monsters or freshmen. Or ones who are both. Do you actually need help packing here?" She tilted her head, watching Fish chirp away. "And are you going to see Peter at some point before September?"

"I hope so. He's going to be here all summer, I think, but maybe there'll be a break sometime."

"Auf wiedersehn! Dong ma?"

Zero rolled her eyes at the bird, then looked around the room. "I finally got all my laundry done, and I'm leavin' some of this stuff here, since I'm pretty sure I keep my room--if I don't, and some new kid chucks it out in the hall, rescue my records for me? And...oh, squall, do you see a kilt anywhere?"

Janet knocked on the door frame and stood there, trying to decide if the mess would swallow her. "You're not going to be around at all this summer?" she asked.

Zero snatched a kilt off the closet doorknob and tossed it in the already overstuffed suitcase on her bed. "Nope. Film school all summer, I'm afraid. I'll be back first of September, though. You wanna milkshake?"

"A milkshake would be good," said Janet. "Thanks. I'd blame you for being gone if you weren't going to be in someplace good like film school. When does it start?"

Zero hopped over her duffel bag and piles of assorted stuff to get to the minifridge. She opened it and peered inside. "Chocolate okay? Classes start Monday, so I have to get home an' get settled and stuff before that."

"Chocolate is always okay," said Janet, grinning. "That's awfully soon. Damn. We'll have to take a class together in June the fall or something. I was counting on being able to spend more time with you once finals were over and I wasn't so insanely busy."

"I swear, I'll be back sooner than you think and oh how true that is. You'll be havin' fun...you can help Parker torment the new kids!"

Peter knocked on the door frame and smiled. "Hey there," he said. "Getting ready to leave me all alone for months upon months?" He was holding a plastic bag in one hand and looked like he was making a half-hearted attempt to hide it from Zero.

"Yes, because I am a horrible person and a terrible girlfriend. Whatcha got there?"

"Oh. Nothing. Absolutely nothing," Peter said, walking in. "Certainly not some early birthday gifts that you can open right now." He handed the bag of wrapped gifts over despite his protests.

"Oooh." Zero opened her presents gleefully and put on her new pretty jewelry. "Thank you, Peter! I love it!"

"You're welcome," Peter said, blushing. "And I'm going to see if I can run off for a few days next month for your birthday. I was going to have that be a surprise, but I forgot to get you a card, so this evens that out."

"You'd do that for me?"
