Monday Morning/Afternoon, Room 220

The door is propped open on what looks like a disaster zone as Zero frantically tries to pack up everything before she leaves tomorrow. She'll be gone all June summer, after all.

She has a strawberry milkshake, and Fish is perched on one of the bedposts, occasionally chirping, "Danke schoen! Are you my mummy! Pretty bird! Pretty bird!" Come visit her. She'll give you a milkshake.

If she can get to the fridge, that is.

((Edit: The door is now closed, and you'd better have a really good reason for interrupting the room's occupants.))

"Tomorrow, yeah. Classes start Wednesday or something, so I have to haul arse."

"Yeah, we're out of here Thursday ourselves," Angela said. "Which classes are these, music or film? Or neither?"

She sighed. "It'll be weird not to see everyone every day."

[swerval_zero]

"I'm getting my math requirement and English comp out of the way, and then taking a couple of intro to film classes.

"I know, yeah. I'll miss everybody. I'll miss the library."

"I thought you'd be happy not to have it talking to you anymore," Angela said. "But yeah, I'll miss it too." She bedmodded sat on a corner of the bed not covered with Zero's stuff. "When are you back?"

Zero picked up an armful of shirts and chucked them in her duffel bag. "Uh...should be around the first of September? I think?"

"I didn't know it was that long," Angela said, dismayed. "That's almost four months."

She hesitated. "Email should work, right? Because I'll let you know if anything big happens once I'm back here. Or even while I'm not here. And is Fish going with you?"

[swerval_zero]

"Yeah, I know, it feels like practically forever. Yeah, e-mail should work, an' you can call if you'd like. My cell phone should still work. I have to take Fish with me. Parker'd have to feed him, otherwise, an' he'd just sit here and terrorize people in Italian."

"Domo arigato!"

"Or Japanese."

Angela smiled. "He'd scare off at least half the newbies," she said. "But it kind of is forever. Four months ago, Peter was barely on campus," she pointed out. "But I get why you're doing it. Just, y'know, keep in touch and don't forget us."

She reached into her bag. "Oh, hey, I have a present for you, kind of. Have you read this book yet?"

"I couldn't possibly forget you guys. Flora wants my head because I told my parents I want to come back here next year, but...I can't go back there now, y'know?"

"Ooh," Zero said, flipping through the book. "This looks swerval. Thanks, Angela!"

Angela nodded. "Yeah, normal people would be way, way, way too bizarre after the year we've had. I have no idea how we'll get used to college, even."

"And you're welcome. I figured I'd miss your birthday, so ..." she shrugged.

[swerval_zero]

"Yeah, I'll be gone for my birthday. Woes. But when I get back, I'll be all older and wiser and stuff."

"I've definitely been much wiser and everything since I turned 17," Angela said, possibly not entirely sincere. "Plus we'll be seniors. Which will rock."

She surveyed the room, then stood. "I should let you pack. Can I give you a hug in case I don't see you before you go?"

"We'll rule the school! Of course you can give me a hug. I wouldn't let you get away without one."

Angela grinned.

And hugged Zero. like a hugging thing. "Take care, okay? And have a great summer. You know, you were one of the first people I talked to here?"

[swerval_zero]

Zero hugged her back. "Don't worry. I'll be off Fandom Island, there'll be a lot less crazy." Zero didn't tell Angela how, with her family, that was kind of a hopeful statement more than a factual one. "You have a great summer, hear, and take care of yourself. You're one of my best friends here." And now Zero's gonna cry.

Angela sniffled. "You're one of mine, too." She stepped back and folded her arms over her chest before she could get completely sappy over four lousy months.

"We will both have great summers. See you in September, Zero." She turned to the bird. "And ... sayonara, Fish."

[swerval_zero]

"Zdrasvui!" Fish said cheerily.

Zero sighed. "I don't even know what language that is."

Angela managed a half-smile. "Maybe he's been studying your language class stuff, and it's -- what did you guys learn? Dragon, or something."

[swerval_zero]

"Maybe. I feel like I've forgotten half of it already. I'll come back in the fall an' I won't even be able to tell the spiders to get out or be squished."

[chasingangela]

"Poor spiders," Angela said, and shuddered. "Though I still don't reeally want to negotiate with them. I'd rather avoid."

[swerval_zero]

"I think avoidance is key in the spider-people relationship, yes. D'you want a milkshake?"

[chasingangela]

"Sure," Angela said. "What type do you have?"

[swerval_zero]

Zero opened the fridge and peered inside. "Um...looks like coffee."

[chasingangela]

"Perfect," Angela said. "Coffee ice cream is this incredible union of things I really like, so ... yay."


She sat back down on the corner of bed. "So have you heard anything about graduation?"

[swerval_zero]

"Not really. We'll probably get attacked by bees or something." Zero handed Angela her milkshake.
