Everything was packed up, her guitar was securely in its case, and Fish's cage was even covered and ready for transport. Now all Zero had to do was ferry it all down to Dave and point the big teal van toward Flange City.

"Yeah," Zero said. "Have to. Graduated an' all; can't stay around forever."

He cranked the sad-puppy look up to 11 a notch. "And I guess it wouldn't sit too well with people if we tried to kidnap you, would it?"

"My family would just have to come get me back an' beat you up," Zero had to tell him. "And no, you couldn't take them."

"Well, there went brilliant plan number one," Anders told the ceiling, snapping his fingers. "I knew I should've come up with a backup."

Zero shook her head at him. "Daisy, Daisy, Daisy, if you haven't learned by now you should always have a backup plan, however can I feel safe leaving you here? You'll just get yourself gremlin-bit again."

"Actually, I used the backup plan first. That was the sad-puppy look. Besides," Anders chided, "would you really turn down a shot at video footage of my gremlin-bit antics?"

"Yes," Zero said promptly. "Too much editing to make it safe for, you know, human eyes."

Anders let his jaw drop in exaggerated shock. "Such tough love I get from you, Hopeless-Savage."

Zero reached up to pat his cheek. "Oh, Daisy, I'm mean because I care."

"Which is why I let you get away with it," Anders replied, accepting the pat on the cheek with good grace. "Who's gonna help Isabel keep me in line now that you and Parker are both gonna be gone, huh? Huh?"

"I guess you'll just have to keep yourself in line." Zero frowned. "You're doomed. Find a newbie with good sense," she instructed him.

"Aw, have a little faith in me, Zero." Grinning good-naturedly, Anders made a move to nudge her lightly with his elbow. "Do I still strike you as the same guy who got stuck in the shelves in Special Collections in the zombie invasion? I'd kinda like to think I've grown up a little bit, at least."

Zero looked him over. "I don't know...you still seem like that guy with the daisies on his chest."

Anders gave her a mock exasperated look. "Should I just get 'em tattooed on, then, do you think?" he teased.

"Sure," said Zero. Had he really expected anything different. "I can recommend you a good artist, but he's back in Flange."

Anders guffawed sharply, then gave her a slightly wistful smile. "I'm gonna miss you, you know."

"I'm gonna miss you, too, Daisy. But you keep in touch, y'hear? Send an e-mail, text message, pigeon, whatever."

"I will. Promise. Least, until I go home, but with any luck I won't be cut off there."

"Yeah, try not to let that happen," Zero advised him.

"I'll do my best," Anders replied. "Knowing you and Parker, you'd find a way to come kick my ass for not keeping in touch otherwise."

"Oh, we have our ways," Zero said in a slightly evil manner. "So, um. I guess this is goodbye."

"That, I'll believe of you any time," Anders retorted. He shifted awkwardly from one foot to the other, then held his arms out halfway. "Hug before you go?"

Zero hugged him tightly. "'Bye, Daisy. Think about that tattoo. It'll help me distinguish you from all the other yous."

Anders laughed and hugged her back, suddenly realizing the purpose in the canon wedding-tattoo now. "I'll give it a thought," he promised. "Don't go calling anyone else out there in the real world Daisy, okay?"
