Parking Lot by Causeway, Saturday Afternoon

Even though it was just a short trip to Arlington, Zero had stocked Dave with snacks, a cooler full of drinks, and entertainment--such as 'Teach Yourself Guitar' and 'Drumming Made Easy.' Now all she needed was the band.

Dear squall, she hoped the band showed up.

"Dave isn't very clean."

"No!" Zero hastened to reassure her. "We gave her a thorough cleanin' when we got her. Antibacterial everything, full detailing, I think Parker used a few bottles of Febreze...it's just that, um, some smells never come out." Zero patted Dave's door. "It adds character."

Hannelore frowned. "Smells mean the dirt's still in there."

Zero shook her head. "It's not...a dirt smell, so much."

"If it smells, it's not clean," she argued.

"But even clean things smell," Zero argued back. "They smell like clean. Bleach and things."

"Oh, absolutely," Zero said. Zero thought it was, at least. Parker might disagree.
