Zero had chucked most of the mess into her closets and covered Fish's cage. On top of the dresser was an array of takeout containers from Ching Tai: rice, spring rolls, dumplings, Kung Pao shrimp and Sichuan chicken, along with other selections. Chopsticks and forks for the less brave were sitting nearby, and ginger beer was chilling in the fridge, which could also provide milkshakes if anyone wanted those instead.

Now all she needed was the rest of the band.

((Closed to the band people. Minimal OCD going up. All right, have at it. This was supposed to go up earlier, but Comcast thought it would be cute to shut off my cable for maintenance.))

"Por que?" Parker asked back, settling herself on one of Zero's chairs. "La musica, la comida, las personas...?"

Chad was impressed. She passed the test, and then didn't throw something like Russian or Scandenavian back at him to show him up.

//"The women."//

That? Might have been a grin. Or just a shifting in the shadows on his face as he leaned back. Who knows?

Parker coughed on a mouthful of rice, then chortled, toasting Chad with her ginger beer again. "Si, y los hombres. Pero el clima y el océano son también magníficos.*" Switching back to English, Parker added, "Do you speak any other languages?"

*But the climate and the ocean are also gorgeous.

Chad had been a little worried about what reaction his comment would have inspired, but he was glad to find himself pleasantly toasting back again, and taking a long swig. He didn't particularly like the ginger beer, but it was beer, so he was content enough.

"Nope. But three ain't bad."

"Not at all. Puts you pretty far ahead of most people in this country." Parker shrugged. "I lived in Japan for about four months, impossible not to pick it up in that time. Tokyo, mostly. Although we spent some time in Osaka, too." She propped her feet up and asked, "Where'd you learn to play bass?"

Chad nodded; his 'tour' was in Tokyo, too. But, once again, his slow thoughts eventually caught up with the fact that she'd shifted subject again.

He shrugged. "Just picked it up as something to do."

Parker grinned up at the Laconic Guy, and nodded. "Well, if you need anything -- new bass strings, music, clothes for being on-stage-- let me know. That's part of my job."

Chad nodded. "Got it. Thanks."

"Sure. Oh," Parker said, as one last thing occurred to her, "Would you have a problem being on the Pirate's Radio Show? That's my next project for you guys, a week or so before your debut. You don't have to, but it would probably help if at least a couple of you showed up, if I can talk him into it."

"Huh? Oh, no, I'd be fine with that."

He paused. "Might not say much, though."

"Totally fine." Another smile, half amused, half satisfied. "Everyone else will fill in the gaps. I can tell."
