Around the Dorm, Saturday Morning

A petite girl with bright pink hair and eclectic clothes went to and fro, carrying her things across the lawn and upstairs to room 220. Occasionally she would stop to swear, kick something, or rest for a few minutes. Throughout the whole process a pink cockatoo sat on her shoulder, offering occasional helpful commentary such as, "ARE YOU MY MUMMY?"

"Yeah, they were running around chanting in French and stuff. It was kind of bizarre, but at least they were too happy to be snotty. Oh, and I met Marty's friend Marcella. And his mom." It was clear she was confused about the last one.

As was Zero. "Marty has a mom?" She frowned. "I mean. Squall. I don't know what I mean."

"Wel, yeah. I mean, he didn't hatch." She frowned, trying to decide what to say. "She's sick. Mentally, I mean. And maybe physically too, I didn't ask. He doesn't talk about it."

"No, that's not what I meant, he just never said...'course, I guess we weren't really all that close. Well, that smatchets. About her bein' sick, I mean."

Angela's eyes were very serious. "Yeah. Smatchets. But you know him,. he pretends it's a joke most of the time."

She ran a hand through her hair, looking for a new topic. "Oh, I got a message from Peter. He said the new kids weren't that scary but we could just call them all Peter. Not sure if he was joking."

"Yeah, he came to see me for my birthday! We had t'rescue my brother from clown artists."

Angela stared at Zero for a minute. "Clown. Artists."

"Did your brother steal a balloon shaped like a giraffe or somethign?"

Zero laughed. "No, no, no. They were artists dressed as clowns. They wanted to force him to paint things for him." She sounded like it was perfectly sensible, which, if you were Zero, it really was.

Angela blinked, then decided this probably made sense in Zero's world. Much more sense than, say, asking nice and then paying her brother would have. "Oh. Of course. You got him back okay and everything, right?"
