Room 220, Tuesday Evening

Inside room 220, it looked like a tornado had hit--so pretty much like it always did, only moreso, because this was a packing whirlwind, and the packing was nowhere near finished. Thanksgiving at home and all that.

However, Zero had shoved most of the mess onto the room's two beds and sat in the middle of the floor with her supplies: a SHIELD t-shirt, a pair of scissors, a lighter, a bottle of medicinal alcohol, a metal trashcan, and a make-your-own voodoo doll kit.

Let the mutilation begin.

Peter knocked on the door, completely unaware of the complexity of the scene inside the room.

"It's open!" Zero called. Hmm, did she want to try to give Nick Fury herpes?

Peter opened the door and stepped inside. Then he saw the set up. "You are frighteningly prepared for this."

"I went to the shop," she said with a shrug. "The clerk looked at me funny. Can't imagine why."

"Neither can I," Peter said, slightly concerned. "So, um, what are you planning on doing to this shirt?"

"Well, it says in the little accompanying booklet we need a personal item to make a voodoo doll, so that's right out. For now," she added darkly. "So, slash and burn?"

"Voodoo doll?" Peter said quietly. "Um, slash and burn. Sounds good. Stick with that, yes."

Zero held out the scissors and t-shirt and offered, "Would you like the first cut?"

"Sure. Thanks," Peter said, feeling that everything was likely safer if he was holding the scissors. He took the scissors and the shirt and cut the left side. "How was that?"

Zero eyed Peter over. Her shoulders slumped and she said, "You're not into this, are you?"

"This was more of a you thing, I think," Peter said. "But please, you should feel free to go all out."

"Well not if I'm gonna scare you."

"The preparation is surprising, not scary," Peter said. He mostly meant that. "The voodoo doll is kind of scary, I admit, but that's not getting used tonight so it's all okay by me."

"He would deserve it," Zero argued. "And, um. I don't think they work anyway. Although, this island..."

"On this island, a sock puppet with their name written in Sharpie might work as a voodoo doll," Peter suggested.

Zero looked thoughtful for a moment. Then she started rummaging through a drawer until she came up with a sock that had lost its mate. "Does Nick Fury have any distinguishing marks?" she asked as she pulled the sock onto her hand and reached for a Sharpie with the non-besocked hand.

"Okay, no voodoo dolls, even half-assed sock ones," Peter said. "SHIELD probably has a magic division that wards against that kind of thing anyway."

"It never hurts to find out," Zero argued.

Peter thought wabout this for a moment. "Okay, you're right, but still. It would be wrong."

"That depends on your definition of 'wrong,' hooskspider."

"Your persistance is making it very hard for me to stick to my guns and say no to voodooing Fury, you know that, right?" Peter asked.

"It would only be a little herpes," Zero said in what she hoped was a persuasive manner.

"... Herpes?" Peter asked. "No. No way. And not just because the thought of my girlfriend giving some other guy herpes is weird even before you bring voodoo into it."

Zero sighed and put the sock up. "You don't have a vindictive bone in your body, do you?" she asked fondly.

"I do, I really do. But I get that out in healthy ways," Peter said. "Like beating up muggers."

"Not many muggers on the island," Zero pointed out.

"No, but that's just one of several healthy ways of dealing with stuff," Peter said. "You could hit the gym. Or there's always finding your boyfriend and making out with him for a while. I think that's a good way of working through stuff, too."

"Mm." And then Zero shoved her shirt-mutilation materials aside and tackled Peter. "Oh really?"

If he had wanted to, Peter could have easily caught Zero and remained standing. Superpowers allowed that. That would, however, be significantly less fun than this, which is why he was on his back at the moment. "Oh, really. Plus, it's much more positive and happy for everyone involved."

"Stop talking," Zero suggested, and kissed him.

"Okay," he said, although it wasn't very audible for some reason. He felt his point was made so it was time to celebrate that.
