Fish's cage was covered and stuffed in the closet (he'd be fine), Death in a Fence was cued up on the DVD player, delicious dinner was set out on the table and totally not burned, and Zero had changed her haircolor in honor of the holiday. All she needed now was the boyfriend.

((For the fake elf boyfriend.))

Peter knocked on Zero's door. He was holding some blue flowers and wearing a knit cap.

For once, he really liked Valentine's Day.

Peter walked in, leading with the flowers. "Happy Valentine's Day," he said, closing the door.

The kiss definitely helped make it a happy Valentine's Day. "All holiday celebrations should start like that. Oh, by the way, I do have a surprise for you like I promised."

Peter pulled his hat off. His hair was blue. "It's just temporary, but I thought you'd appreciate it at least for tonight."

"Then it was a good call?" Peter asked.

"I have to admit, it is nice to break it out on special occasions," Peter said. At least part of the reason it was niec was because it prompted Zero to run her hand through it. "Maybe come prom time I'll let you do something special with it, too."

"It'll be your senior prom. If I can make it slightly more memorable, I will," Peter said.

"I have absolutely no desire to bring pig's blood into our relationship in any way, shape, or form," Peter assured her. "Although it is an idea for something to do to Charlie Kawalsky."

"Is there pig meat?" Peter asked.

Peter smiled. "That is possibly the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me. Granted, it's not like anyone ever really had to actively avoid making me commit pseudo-cannibalism so there's no real competition, but still. Thanks."

"So, grab some food and start the movie? (And which movie is it?)"

"God bless whoever puts together those DVD menus," Peter said. "That person is wonderful and deserves flowers."

"Of course not. They deserve flowers from someone who loves them for them, not from somebody who just appreciates the work," Peter said.

"So," Peter echoed. "If the movie gets too scary, please don't mind if I cuddle up out of 'fear.'"
