Barnes & Noble in Alexandria, Saturday Afternoon (NFB due to distance)

As the group entered the store, they were greeted by a crowd of women, all waiting to meet Angelica Demesnes. Large tables held copies of all her books for those who hadn't brought their own, including the brand-new Crown Diamond. Zero gleefully snatched up a copy of her very own.

((Due to Parker's connection woes, there will be no travel post. Come one, come all!))

"I was kind of busy the last few weeks," he explained. "I didn't get out and about much. But that's pretty much done with, so I'm sure I'll be seeing more of you." Jack had to grin, and add, "Though not too much, or your boyfriend might get jealous.

"He's not too jealous," Angela said. "It'll be nice to, I guess, get to know you again."

And that got a completely genuine smile from Jack. "I'd like that. Maybe we could grab a coffee, or a piece of cheesecake, sometime? You could fill me in on all the things you remember about me that I don't. Because there's a lot missing."

"I never hung out with you that much,": Angela said. "But I can try, sure." She flapped her hands a little, at a loss. "People have told you about your birthday, right?"

"Awww," Jack made a sad face at her. "Didn't you like me?" he asked. "And I know there was a sword and a dragon."

"I liked you fine," Angela protested. "Just didn't see you around much."

She stuck her hands in her pockets. "Your mom did a bunch of rooms, and there was, like, one for a little kid's party, one for an older kid's party, and one for a grown-up party," she said. "It was fun before the dragon. I think I missed that, but there were weird little bat monster things."

Jack's smile faded when Angela said the words 'your mom'. "I don't remember any of that," he said quietly, then forced a grin. "Which means next year's party is going to have to be pretty impressive to make up for it."

Angela realized belatedly that CJ was no longer on the island and winced inwardly at the fading smile. "Definitely. You only have six months to plan it."

"Only six months?" Jack laughed. "I'd better get started right away. Think we can do without the dragons this time?"

"But it's not a party without dragons," Angela said, then laughed. "I'm sure people will get through their disappointment."

"Well, I have a wizard with some experience in dealing with dragons, so maybe he could be our dragon wrangler? I'd hate to disappoint people."

Angela raised an eyebrow. "Sounds intriguing," she said, and noticed Angelica Desmesnes was free. "You'll have to tell me about it after I get my book signed."

[OOC: Woe! We can leave it here.]
