As the group entered the store, they were greeted by a crowd of women, all waiting to meet Angelica Demesnes. Large tables held copies of all her books for those who hadn't brought their own, including the brand-new Crown Diamond. Zero gleefully snatched up a copy of her very own.

Parker leaned against one of the bookshelves and said, "When did you guys go out? The whole thing was a blur after five a.m. or so."

"Hour twenty one," she said, yawning widely. "I was a bit disappointed, but that lasted only until I hit by bed. Then I was grateful for the chance to rest."

"Ah. We went out only an hour later. I was pretty zonked by then." Parker yawned back at her. "Looking for an alternative to Angelica?"

"Possibly," Isabel shrugged. "I've re-read her stuff enough that I have parts of it memorized."

Parker grinned. "The bits in the hammock, or the bits in the jungle, or the bits on the beach?"

Isabel blushed lightly. "I'm taking the fifth. Although according to Jack some of those are physically impossible. So that's part of the reason I'm looking for a new author, hopefully someone that's a little more reality based."

"Hmmm. Satan wore Versace? Sweet Savage Surrender? Hot Sauce and Saffron?" Parker looked at that last one again, wondering if she was in the cooking section. "Oh, okay. Chef and restaurant owner. Sounds like your kind of thing."

She reached over and pulled a second copy off the shelf. "Hmmmm, a fiesty owner with a hot tempered and equally hot chef. That does have possibilities. I think I'll take it. You can read it when I'm done."

"Cool." Parker grabbed Bullets and Brassier and snickered over the back page blurb. "'She's a Private Eye with a penchant for purple prose. He's a lingerie designer with a weakness for romances. They fight crime.' Oh, this I have to read."

"I'm looking forward to your review," Isabel chuckled. "By purple prose do you think they mean she writes Bitterwoman fanfic?"

"Maybe Wendy the Werewolf Stalker?" Parker suggested, flipping through to read a few pages. "Oooo. Bonus. Seraphim fanfic, with a sidebar in Strifenova Celestial porn. Plus an original on-line novel that it looks like sucked in our lingerie designer."

"Porn? With plot or without?" she asked, amused. "Because sometimes gratuitous sex scenes are fun. What's the original novel about?"

"With, looks like. And... heh. Original novel is about runway models being stalked, which is how Mr. Designer started reading it; one of his is being stalked, and he hires 'Clarinda' after he finds out she's a P.I." Parker frowned. "This book may have too much plot to be a romance."

"Plot's not necessarily a bad thing," Isabel pointed out. "As long as there's a few breaks for heavy breathing."

"Time for the page 119 test. Most of them manage a sex scene by then, so--" Parker flipped through, frowned, backed up a little, and grinned. "Page 114. And, yowza."

"Oh? Tell? Please?" she pleaded. "I'd offer to buy you a mocha, but if you're like me you probably had more then enough coffee last night."

"Phone sex, from what I can tell, and then--" She turned the page. "Ha, yes. He was in the elevator, on his way up to her room at the expensive hotel, and didn't tell her until he was knocking on the door. With champagne. Niiiice."

"Oh that's good," Isabel nodded. "Not that I know this personally. But it sounds like it would be cool. Or hot actually."

Parker's taking mental notes for later. "Um, yeah. The latter. That is... hang on, I shouldn't read this in a public store."

"Should I call Jarod and warn him? Since it sounds like you're getting ideas?"

"Definitely getting ideas. Definitely don't warn him." Parker fanned herself with the book, looking mischevious.

"I won't, but only because I have a feeling he's going to enjoy his little surprise." Isabel grinned, "Somehow I think if I tried something like that with Greg right now I'd make his head explode."

"So the Volkswagon is on the move, but not hitting top speeds?" Parker grinned wickedly. "And you *don't* have to answer that. Really."

"The only answer I'm going to give at this point is that life is good," she smiled. "Where we are is perfect for right now."

"Good to know." Parker grinned. "You guys made up after last week?"
